Make changes to invoices in Stripe

If you use Stripe for your billing, you may find yourself needing to make changes to an invoice that has already been issued. For example, perhaps you accidentally misspelled the customer's company name, or entered the wrong item in the invoice. In Stripe, once an invoice has been issued, it cannot be changed. Instead, it must be canceled and reissued with the correct information. Follow the steps below to make changes to an invoice in Stripe.

a) Canceling an entire invoice

  • To cancel an invoice and create a new, correct invoice, follow the steps below:

Creating the New Invoice

Once you have canceled the original invoice, you can now create a new, corrected one. Follow these steps to do so:

And that's it! You have successfully created a new, corrected invoice for your customer.

b) Canceling individual items on an invoice

  • If you only need to make changes to specific items on an invoice, rather than the entire invoice, you can do so by following the steps like in a) to "Issue cancellation invoice"

  • Select the items to be credited here.

And that's it! You have successfully made changes to individual items on an invoice in Stripe.
