How to Manually Create Users with Paid Memberships

If you need to create a new user manually and apply a paid membership, follow this step-by-step guide

Step 1: Create the User in Coapp

  1. Log in to the Coapp Admin Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Manage Members and create the user profile by entering the required details.

  3. Ensure that the user’s profile is saved.

Step 2: Access the User’s Admin View

  1. Locate the user in the Manage Members section.

  2. Click on the user’s name to access their Admin View.

(Optional) Step 3: Add coupon code to the customer before creating the first invoice

If you, do not need to assign a coupon code you can skip the following steps and continue with Step 4.

Create a Stripe Customer

  1. In the user’s Admin View, if there is no Stripe customer ID shown (e.g. "cus_abc123") click on Create Stripe Customer.

  2. This action will generate a Stripe profile for the user and associate it with their Coapp account.

Add a Coupon in Stripe

  1. Click on the Stripe Customer ID (e.g. "cus_abc123") displayed in the user’s profile to open their Stripe profile.

  2. In the Stripe Dashboard:

    1. Go to the Coupons section and create a new coupon if you haven’t already. Ensure that the coupon details, such as discount percentage or fixed amount, are accurate.

    2. Apply the coupon to the customer by adding it to their profile under Subscription Discounts or similar options.

Step 4: Assign the Correct Plan in Coapp

  1. Return to the Coapp Admin Dashboard.

  2. Go to the user’s profile and assign the correct membership plan by clicking on No plan assigned and following the steps.

  3. Select the payment option to send an invoice.

Step 5: Send the Invoice to the Customer

  1. The invoice is automatically generated and sent to the customers' email, reflecting the discount configuration if applicable.

  2. The customer will receive an email with the invoice, including a link to pay it online.

This process ensures that the coupon is correctly applied to the user’s membership and reflected in the invoice they receive when an administrator creates a new member.
