Signup Fails After Editing or Deleting a Plan in Stripe

Updated yesterday

Situation

You’ve edited or deleted a plan directly in Stripe. As a result, the connection between coapp and Stripe is no longer valid, and new members can no longer sign up. When trying to sign up, an error message appears, and the registration process fails.

Important

All plan settings must be managed exclusively in coapp.

coapp is directly integrated with Stripe and automatically creates and manages all plan-related data in the background. Any manual changes in Stripe will lead to technical issues – especially with user registration.

How to Fix the Problem

You have two options to restore the correct plan configuration:

Option 1: Deactivate and Recreate the Plans

  1. Go to “Manage > Plans” in your coapp admin area.

  2. Deactivate all affected plans that are linked to broken or missing Stripe products: Set the plans to “Inactive” and “Hidden” so they are no longer available.

  3. Create new plans directly in coapp – coapp will automatically generate the correct Stripe products in the background.

Option 2: Duplicate Plans to Keep Existing Content

If you’d like to keep the content and structure of your existing plans, follow these steps:

  1. Duplicate each affected plan in coapp using the “Duplicate” button.

  2. The new plan will automatically have “(copy)” in its name.

  3. Rename the old plans (those without “copy” in the name) – for example, by adding “(Inactive)”.

  4. Set the old plans to “Inactive” and “Hidden” so they are no longer available.

  5. Remove “(copy)” from the new plans’ names – these are now your active and working plans with a valid Stripe connection.

Very Important: Never Edit Plans in Stripe

Please do not edit plans directly in Stripe – not now and not in the future.

Changes to pricing, intervals, names, or other plan settings must always be done in coapp to ensure everything stays in sync.
