Troubleshooting missing push notifications for some coapp users

Updated this week

If a user does not receive push notifications from the coapp mobile app, please check the following steps to resolve the issue.

1. Check system notification permissions

Make sure push notifications are enabled in the device’s system settings:

  • iOS: Settings → Notifications → coapp → Allow Notifications

  • Android: Settings → Apps → coapp → Notifications → Allow

If system notifications are disabled, the app cannot send push notifications.

2. Check notification settings inside the coapp app

Within the app, notifications can also be disabled. Navigate to:

Profile → Account → Notifications

Make sure the setting is enabled.

3. Renew the push token

If the user hasn’t opened the app for a longer period, their push token may have expired. The push token is required for the device to receive notifications from the coapp servers.

Fix: Log out and back in to the app to generate a new push token.

4. Reinstall the app

If push notifications still don’t arrive:

  1. Uninstall the app

  2. Restart the device

  3. Reinstall the app from the App Store or Google Play

  4. Log in again and test push notifications

5. Note: Not all users receive all notifications

Some notifications are only sent to directly involved users (e.g., mentions, replies, or role-based updates). This behavior is by design and not a system error.
