How to Properly Update Plans After Modifying an Upgrade

If an upgrade has been modified after its creation—for example by changing its price—the associated plans may need to be updated manually. This article explains why plan updates are necessary after upgrade changes and shows how to correctly refresh a plan

coapp stores a snapshot of the upgrades assigned to a plan. However, pricing information is managed through Stripe and remains linked to the latest version of the upgrade.

As a result, if an upgrade is modified, the corresponding plan may still reference outdated upgrade data. This can lead to inconsistencies between the upgrade shown in the plan and the price that is actually charged.

When Do You Need to Update a Plan?

A plan should be updated whenever an upgrade has been:

  • Renamed

  • Repriced

  • Reconfigured

  • Deleted and recreated

  • Replaced with a different upgrade

How to Update a Plan

Follow these steps to refresh the upgrade configuration within a plan:

  1. Open the affected plan.

  2. Scroll to the Upgrades section.

  3. Remove the existing upgrade from the plan.

  4. Add the updated upgrade again.

  5. Save the plan.

The plan will now use the latest version of the upgrade, including its current name, configuration, and pricing.

Best Practice

Whenever you make changes to an existing upgrade, review all plans that use that upgrade and refresh them by removing and re-adding the upgrade.

This ensures that plan data and billing data remain synchronized and that members are charged the expected amount.
