Right to erasure under Art. 17 GDPR as an end user of a Coapp community

Updated this week

How to exercise your right to erasure under Art. 17 GDPR as an end user of a Coapp community

This article is aimed at end users who are members of a community operated on the Coapp platform.

If you wish to exercise your right to erasure under Art. 17 GDPR, please note the following:

Who is responsible?

Coapp is the technical service provider (Software-as-a-Service) and acts as a processor in accordance with Art. 4 No. 8 GDPR.
The community operator (i.e. the company or organization using the platform) is the controller within the meaning of Art. 4 No. 7 GDPR. They decide on the purposes and means of processing your personal data.

Steps for end users

  1. Contact your community operator
Please address your erasure request directly to your community operator. Only they can assess whether erasure is permissible and necessary (e.g. taking into account legal retention obligations).

  2. Coapp only deletes on instruction
Coapp may only delete your data upon instruction from the community operator. Coapp does not make this decision independently.

  3. You can delete your user account yourself
As an end user, you can delete your account at any time:
Go to Profile > Account > General > Delete user account

Cookies and integrations

Coapp itself does not use marketing cookies.
However, it is possible that your community operator uses their own integrations that set cookies. Please contact them directly if you have any questions about this.

Summary for end users

  • Your community operator is always your point of contact for erasure requests.

  • Coapp only carries out erasures on their instruction.

  • You can delete your user account at any time yourself.
