In coapp, you can define exactly how members can join your community. You can choose between different sign-up strategies and determine how they interact with potential payments (Plans). These strategies can be easily configured in the Admin area.
How to access the sign-up strategies
Go to Settings in the Admin area.
Select Authentication.
Click on Sign-up Strategy.
Make your selection from the drop-down menu on the "Sign-up Strategies" page.
Click Save Changes in the top right corner to apply the setting.
1. "Anyone can sign up"
Choose this option if anyone is allowed to register. Ideal for public communities.
Without payments: Users can register freely and directly.
With payments activated: Users are required to choose a plan when signing up. These plans can also be free of charge.
Note: Even with this open strategy, you can still manually create or invite members.
2. "By invitation only"
Choose this option if only users explicitly invited or manually added by your admins are allowed to join. Recommended for exclusive or closed communities.
The public registration area is completely disabled with this strategy.
3. "Approval based"
Choose this option if you want to review incoming registrations before accepting or rejecting them. Ideal for curated communities.
Important: If payments are activated in your community, this strategy is not available (it will appear greyed out in the menu).
Note: Even with this strategy, members can still be manually created or directly invited by admins.
Changing the strategy
You can change the sign-up strategy at any time. The new setting applies immediately to all future sign-ups.
